Carroll Knight  has recently been in contact with Ruth Auberg Havens, York '52  and she had promised us all a photo of her and what's left of her life --- her family--- probably by Christmastime, 2007.  But the photo never came.  Still, Carroll stayed in touch, and then finally they came---a brief note, and a picture--- not of Christmas, 2007--- but of a Christmas past --- when her husband, Bruce, was in better health--- and then a second picture of what she and Bruce see when they look out their window--- the window of an assisted living facility in Arkansas.  We thank Carroll for his persistence, and we thank Ruth for sharing these with us all as she continues to go through some difficult times. 

After Carroll sent me all that he had received from Ruth, this is the way I put it in a return e-mail back to Carroll:---

"It's just such a great package --- what with your taped conversation to go with

--- that, and "How Soon" aimlessly tinkling along in the background--- the very same old-timey song that Ruth herself remembers so well from those long-ago dreamy days when she was but a young girl flirting with her own make-believe world that she shared with no one!  In all, a beautiful production--- that's what this is destined to become!"

And as a backdrop to it all, you're listening to Ruth's favorite song,  Martha Wainwright's 'How Soon?' ---a song Ruth tells us she once loved dancing to.  And after listening-in on Ruth's conversation with Carroll Knight, I think you too will agree--- these few moments with Ruth 'ratch hyar 'n nah' are so very special to us all.
