___________ ON THE IMPORTANCE OF F R I E N D S ___________   Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character? How is it possible that I can get along with them all? I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me. With one of them I am polite. With another I joke. I can sit down and talk about serious matters with one. With another I laugh a lot. I listen to one friend's problems. Then I listen to another one's advice for me.   My friends are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When completed, they form a treasure box. Imagine that:---A treasury of friends !  Listed here below are some of my friends who once understood me better than I did myself.   At one time these were among the friends who supported me through the good days and bad. Present-day doctors tell us that friends are good for our health. My doctor calls them Vitamin F (F for Friends) and counts the benefits of friends, past and present, as essential to our well being.   Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes. And if you enjoy Vitamin F continually, you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age ! The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your most intense moments, it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%.   I am so happy to have such a stock of Vitamin F ! We should value our friends and keep in touch with them. And we should try to see them from time-to-time, even if we can only visualize their presence in a listing like this, remembering the times we were together, as best we can, even praying for each other in moments like these. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, and not the life others expected of me.        2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard during my lifetime.        3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings better.        4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.    Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks, and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.    It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life quickly all fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love and will leave behind. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is this that becomes so important to all, for in the end, it all comes down to love and relationships. That is all that remains in the final weeks of Life--- Love and Relationships.        5. I wish that I had let myself become happier. Remember this:--- Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously... choose wisely... choose honestly. The most important sex organ is the brain. 23. No one is in charge of your happiness but you. 24. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?' 25. Always choose life.      26. Forgive but donâÄ™t forget. 27. What other people think of you is none of your business. 28. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.              29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. 30. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.   31. Believe in miracles.     32. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. 33. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young. 34. Your children get only one childhood.     35. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. 36. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. 37. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.     38. Envy is a waste of time.
