OTHER NOTES:--- Note Number 4:
John was one of the very few people I ever met who had a genuine sense of concern about who you were, and how he could help in some way. I know, because he would always come to my rescue whenever something unusual would happen to me along life's way. Take for example the removal of my gall bladder in August, 2012. For most people, the removal of their gall bladder is a simple enough operation--- you go into the hospital, have it removed, then you're released, and a couple of days later, you're back at work again. But this was not the case for me, for what the Doctor didn't realize at the time was that she missed two gall stones that quite simply caused me pain like you wouldn't believe. It wasn't until November that an ultrasound was finally taken, revealing that my common bile duct was by then, twice the size it should have been, suggesting that something was not right. So another couple of weeks passed until I could get an ERCP done to discover what my real problem was, An ERCP procedure is where tiny instruments are dropped down your throat, including a flashlight, then they proceed backwards, through the small intestine and back up into your common bile duct, and finally on out to where the gall bladder used to be, looking upwards to the liver. It was on the liver that the doctor saw two gall stones which he cut out, pulling them back up through the throat and on out of my body, out through my mouth. I was immediately better--- just as John had described it to me--- because over the years, John had paid attention to things medical, and he passed his knowledge on to me--- not because he felt obligated to do so, but because he wanted to relieve the anxiety he sensed I had about my medical condition. John was simply that kind of guy.

It is with deep regret that I report this day that Forrest Alan Rank, York High School, Class of 1952, has passed away, resulting from lightning striking his house in upper Michigan, as per this note received only yesterday from his daughter, Cindy.
Those of you regularly attending each of our Class Reunions every 5-years will remember Forrest, who would himself always attend. We will miss Forrest very much, and he will always be remembered for his sense of humor and the dignity that was his throughout his life. May God Bless his soul.

Bruce - Thanks to my daughter, Cindy, I was able to attend the 60th. She drove to my home in Michigan's U.P., picked me up, and drove me back to her home in Villa Park, IL - about a 1,000-mile round trip. She does this about once a month to put out all my pills, help with laundry & house cleaning, fixing me healthy meals, etc. How blessed I am!!! I mentioned your health to the class at the dinner Saturday night, and asked them to keep you in their prayers. I,too, had spinal stenosis about 10 years ago but I went through with the surgery. What a difference it made for me. I'm no longer in pain when I walk.
I moved to my home in the U.P. in 1992, after retiring from the State of Illinois as a Revenue Agent at the end of 1991. Even though my wife, Lois, passed unexpectedly last 11/26/11, I still enjoy being up here in "God's Country". I miss her terribly, but I still have my church congregation and friends who keep their eyes on me. One family has included me in most of their activities, and we go out for dinner at least one night each week. I'm still pastoring a church, which keeps me quite busy. I recently retired from prison ministry at the local State Correctional Facility, after 16 years there. Studying the Bible, and preparing weekly sermons keep me out of trouble. Shortly after moving here, I was found to have metastatic melanoma, requiring surgery in Feb. of 1993. The doctors said I might not live out the year - giving me only a few months to live. Well, here I am, nearly 20 years later - full of P. & V. The old expression of "seize the day" seems to help, as does prayer and offering thanksgiving to God each and every day.
God bless you, Bruce. Give Him thanks for your wife still being with you, and for the love of your family.
Rev. Forrest
